Conservation 360
- Opening up conservation data to the world
Tom Snyder - Director of Programming and Conservation Action, Seneca Park Zoo Society "Zoos have been supporting conservation initiatives Worldwide for decades, however we have not been good at telling those stories. We developed Conservation360 with our partners to leverage the huge datasets out there to prove our impact and more effectively tell our stories. Transparency across our conservation projects is vital for sustainable development, and Conservation360 is a large part of that"
Mahandry Hugues Andrianirisoa - Madagascar T.R.E.E. project manager "Growing up in rural Madagascar, there were very few forests around my hometown. I decided reforesting my country was my life goal. Conservation360 allows me to learn more about what works, and more importantly what doesn’t, while giving me enough data to prove value of forests in my country. Being able to connect effort to effect is important for the future of my country, and Conservation360 does that for us"
Dr. Patricia Wright - Professor Stony Brook University/Centre Valbio Field Station in Madagascar "We have been collecting data and research for more than thirty years as we reforest Madagascar. In that time, we have had no central way to connect our researchers and our conservation workers through data. Conservation360 provides us with the framework to allow our researchers to open their data so the stakeholders working on conservation in Madagascar can get the data they need for a sustainable future in Madagascar"

Contribute

Discover the myriad of ways you can get involved with Conservation 360 and its mission. With Conservation 360 every individual contribution will help build a stronger network of information that can uncover relationships we never knew before.

Research

Conservation 360 uses its donations to support conservation research efforts. Data gathered from those efforts are then open for other researchers to use in their own studies, thereby fostering a network of cooperative research.

Develop

Building software requires a team and since this project is open source, it’s on Github and open to contributions. Submit issues and changes and join the Conservation 360 development family.

Want to know more about the project and potential areas of contribution

Our goal is focused on connecting donors, researchers and conservationists to important information through opening access to data collected during a variety of conservation works across the World. The Seneca Park Zoo Society aims to use this project to increase visibility and utility of conservation impact for not only the zoos that sponsor the work, but to the general public by supplying key features such as the displaying, importing, and exporting ecological asset data.

About us

Conservation 360 is an open source project that aims to increase the transparency of conservation data through the centralization and open-licensing of data uploaded to our platform.

Our primary support comes from donations from individual donors and conservation support organizations. Stakeholders and researchers use that support to gather and share analytics and data through the Conservation 360 platform, which are used to improve conservation efforts and reach sustainable development goals around the world. Reporting on the impact this data accomplishes subsequently improves the quality of research and data on the platform, continuously bettering its affect on environmental conservation.
